What to do with unattached card transactions

“I got an e-mail about an unattached card transaction that is 15/30 days old. What do I do?”
Go to myBYU Under the “Work” tab, click on “Y-Expense.”

Under “BYU Card Transactions,” click on “All Unattached.”

If you do NOT want the card transaction included in a trip you took or a trip you will be taking:
Leave it and let Jasmine know immediately. Make sure you have given Jasmine the receipt She will resolve the expense

If you DO want the card transaction included in a trip you took or a trip you will be taking:
Click on the drop down menu for “Select Approved TA…” Select the correct trip. Under the column “Type,” select “Travel.” Lastly, click, “Save Changes.”

QUESTIONS Q: My card transaction(s) are supposed to attach to a trip, but there are no trips listed. A: You need to create a Travel Authorization (see “How to Create a Travel Authorization” PowerPoint. Q: The card transactions are still showing up as “unattached.” A: There are two answers: If you have not yet gone on your trip, don’t worry about it until you get back. If you ALREADY went on your trip, you need to begin a Travel Expense Report and attach it to the report. Now that you’ve assigned the card transaction to a TA, it will show up when you begin your Travel Expense Report. (See “How to Create a Travel Expense Report” PowerPoint.

Remember that all unattached travel card charges over 60 days old are subject to taxes and a penalty to your research account.
