Located in the center of the South Berry Island Marine Reserve, Bird Cay is well a well protected island retreat.

The island offer 4.75 miles of water frontage, sandy beaches, clear crystal waters, proximity to the US, perfect climate, lush tropical vegetation and level land that has already been developed to a degree and requires additional development.

A large two storey dwelling and swimming pool exist on Bird Cay and are in need of redevelopment, as well as boathouse, storage building, machine shop, gas & fuel storage, small shop, rainwater tank and carpenter shop.

This reserve includes the waters of South Berry Islands surrounding Crab Cay, Chub Cay, Bird Cay, Cat Cay, Vigilant Cy, Diamond Rock, Frazer's Hog Cay and Whale Cay. Proximity to the Great Bahama Bank and the Tongue of the Ocean makes this an excellent fishing, sailing, and scuba-diving paradise.

The island has landscaped trails, white sandy beaches, citrus and coconut groves, tropical palms, gardens, casuarinas and even lawns ideal for development into a golf course.

Chub Cay lies just west of Bird Cay and offers an excellent marina, a private resort club, restaurants, and a 5,000 foot airstrip with regular and chartered flights to Nassau. The privately owned island of Whale Cay to the east includes a 4,000 foot paved runway and harbor. Bird Cay was developed by British aviator and heir to the Shell fortune, Francis Francis, he made this his families island retreat where he entertained notable guests such a David Niven, Noel Coward and Greta Garbo.
