Balaka SCTP Balaka is one of the poorest districts in Malawi
Declared as Disaster prone district in Malawi Experiencing recurrent droughts leading to food insecurity for the past three years IA supporting the delivery of electronic and predictable transfers to 10% utra-poor households Cushion from the impacts of climate change Programme to demonstrate how SCTs can help in building resilience of poorest households to the impacts of Climate Change

Transfer funds directly to SCT beneficiary accounts Use funds to meet other clean household energy needs – Provision of solar equipment Invest in community projects Directly 320,000 SCT and another 320,000 through sales= 640,000 against a national target of 2 million cookstoves by 2020 Use SCT structures – Humanitarian response Linkages to VSLS – CC adapatation
