2. Understanding the GSC Research Grants
GSC awards Research Grants in the amount of up to $500
For purchasing research supplies related to UofL research
These are intended only for students that would otherwise have to pay for supplies out-of-pocket
If you have funding from your mentor or another grant, do not apply for the GSC Research Grant
We will be able to fund around 18 students this year and want to help those with the greatest need
Priority is given to competitive, first-time applicants

3. Steps to applying for the GSC Research Grant
Step 1- Gather Required Documentation
Step 2- Submit Documentation
Step 3- Wait for Decision
Step 4- Obtain Funds
Step 5- Present at Research Symposium
Step 6- Submit Research Report

4. Step 1- Gather Required Documentation
Curriculum Vitae
Project Description & Budget
1-2 page description of your research and how you will use the $500
Letter of Support
From Department Chair, Director of Graduate Studies, or Dissertation/Thesis director
Attest to the appropriateness of the proposed budget

5. Step 2- Submit Documentation

6. Step 3- Wait for Decision
Students will be notified by
Step 4- Obtain Funds
Funds will be sent to your department and dispersed from there
Must communicate with your department to obtain funds

7. Step 5- Present at Research Conference
GSC Research Conference is held annually in the Spring
You can present the same research presented elsewhere
Data collection and analysis does not have to be complete
Multiple Options:
Poster
Talk
Three-Minute Thesis

Whatever you purchase with the funds is the property of the University of Louisville and you cannot take it with you
Cannot request reimbursements for previous purchases
A student can only receive one GSC Research Grant per year
