So What? What are some of the characteristics that these early civilizations shared with one another? (Rivers, Fertile Soil, Natural Resources, Trade networks, Protection from enemies, etc.) Why are these so important? (Transportation, Drinking water, Food, Agriculture, Wealth, Weapons, Security, etc.) These same physical settings remain important in determining where people settle throughout history.
