Activity – stand up, sit down - QUICKLY (ok if it doesn’t ok if it does..) We all use social media on a daily basis, in our personal lives. How about in your training centers: Organization has social network (such as facebook, myspace) account Twitter account? Used videos in trainings Webinars Texting campaign/Texting reminders etc. Again, some of you are already using these tools, and are a valuable resource to you colleagues here today!

People are going online to access health information, and portion of those even post and share information – if this is where your target populations (providers) and their target populations (consumers) is going, then this is where you should have some form of representation. Before... As you noted, some of you organizations are currently using social media, and some of your providers are using it as well! So for your activities and task, how can you use social media BEFORE

For WAD 2009, AIDS.gov asked their twitter followers to share their thoughts and suggestions for the activities for the day. You could ask people what THEY are planning for a training, get suggestions etc.

AIDS.gov uses social media for their activities routinely – blog and video to combine awareness for Caribbean American Awareness Day AND a How to use and share video. Webinar for NHTD Used facebook to promote blog and texting campaign. NHTD Locator widget – find testing sites, housing etc. Similarly, can use social media during training, for questions coming in, videos, etc.
