Set free from law of sin & death
Righteous requirement of law fulfilled in them
Do not walk according to the flesh
Live according to the Spirit
Set their minds on things of the Spirit
Life & peace

4. First Group of People Not “in the flesh” But in the Spirit
Spirit of God dwells in them
Body is dead, but Spirit is life
Spirit will give life to mortal bodies
Debtors to God
Put to death the deeds of the body
Led by the Spirit

5. First Group of People Sons of God Can call God “Father”
Spirit bears witness with their spirits they are children of God
Heirs of God
Joint heirs with Christ
Must suffer with Him
Will be glorified with Him

6. Second Group of People Condemned because of sin
Set minds on things of flesh
Dead while they live
Hostile to God, His enemy
Do not submit to law of God
Cannot submit to law of God
Cannot please God

7. False Views Inherited Adamic corrupt nature.
Special direct working of Spirit.
“Cannot submit” means they will not be judged by God’s law.

8. All Subject to Law of God
God does have law today – 1 Cor 9.21; James 1.25; Gal 6.2; Matt John 12.48

No interest (Acts 17.21, 32)
Self-worship (Philippians 3.19)
Enjoy the flesh (2 Pet 2.10, 14)
Hate authority (2 Pet 2.10)

10. Those Who Submit to God’s Law
“Mind things of Spirit” Rom 8.5
They are debtors to God Rom 8.12
Have put to death the deeds of the body Rom 8.13; Col 3.1-5
Led by the Spirit Rom 8.14
