Catholic Prayers page 10

prayer For all Catholics, praying is very important.
Prayer makes our relationship with God stronger. Prayer has the power to changes you and the world in which you live.

What is prayer Praying is more than giving God a list of stuff you want him to do for you. Pray has more to do with spending time enjoying God's company, a bit like you would do with your best friend. Pray is asking questions, talking about your family and friends, wondering about the future, saying sorry, saying thank-you, listening to what God have to say, not worrying about silence, just glad to be with him.

Pray can be personal Jesus told his followers to shut themselves in their room and pray in secret, because God hears and answers in secret! In other words, Christians can pray at any time and anywhere that gives them space on their own. A lot of people find a quiet room in their home.

Prayer can be Public When Christians meet together, they often make time to pray. This is because Jesus said that when Christians agree to pray together about something, God hears and answers.

In the name of the Father
The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Sign of the Cross Among the most universal and public of all Catholic prayers is the Sign of the Cross. Walk into a Catholic church anywhere in the world, and you will see all who enter signing themselves; sit down for a meal in a Catholic home, and the prayer before eating - begins and ends with the Sign of the Cross.

Glory Be to the father Let Us Pray

The Glory Be The Glory Be, is one of the earliest-known prayers to refer to the Holy Trinity. The Sign of the Cross is made while the Glory Be is recited.

as it was in the beginning
Glory Be. . . Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is no, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

The Hail Mary Let Us Pray

Hail Mary

The Hail Mary A Catholic prayer in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It consists of three parts: Part 1: “Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women,” reminds us of angel Gabriel when he came to visit Mary (Luke 1: 28). Part 2: “and blessed is the fruit of they womb, Jesus” these are words os the inspired greeting of Elizabeth to Mary (Luke 1: 42). Part 3: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.” is a petition.

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father

Our father In his best known prayer "The Lord's Prayer" Jesus taught Christians to call God "Our Father in heaven". (The Bible, Matthew chapter 6 verses ) Like a loving father, God listens to our prayers and always gives his best. Sometimes, this may not always be exactly what we want - sometimes a loving parent even has to use the word no!

Let's look at The Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name Thy kingdom come Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us And lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil For thine is the kingdom And the power and the glory For ever and ever Amen Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name Thy kingdom come Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us And lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil For thine is the kingdom And the power and the glory For ever and ever Amen Our Father in heaven Help us to respect your name Be our king! Have your way on earth Like you do in heaven Give us today the things we need Forgive us for the things we do wrong As we forgive people who have hurt us Help us not to do wrong things And protect us from harm For everything is yours -all the power and glory in the world Now and for always I really mean this prayer.

The Apostles’ Creed Let Us Pray page 12

What is a creed? A creed is a statement, or profession, of what members of a particular church or religion believe to be important for their faith.

The apostles’ creed It is believed that the Apostles, guided by the Holy Spirit, composed the Apostles’ Creed together

The apostles’ creed The Apostles’ Creed consists of twelve articles or beliefs. 1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth: 2. And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: 3. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary: 4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell: 5. The third day he rose again from the dead: 6. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty: 7. From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead: 8. I believe in the Holy Spirit: 9. I believe in the holy Catholic Shurch: the communion of saints: 10. The forgiveness of sins: 1l. The resurrection of the body: 12. And the life everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Creed What We Believe page 13

The Nicene creed Our profession of faith begins with God, for God is the First and the Last, the beginning and the end of everything. The Credo begins with God the Father, for the Father is the first divine person of the Most Holy Trinity; Our Creed begins with the creation of heaven and earth, for creation is the beginning and the foundation of all God's works.

The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

The Nicene Creed For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

The Nicene Creed I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Hail Holy Queen This prayer is commonly said at the end of the rosary

The Hail holy queen Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Memorare page 14

memorare Do you ever feel like you could use some help approaching God in your prayers? The Memorare is a prayer that reminds us that we have an advocate and protector in the Blessed Virgin Mary.  In our prayers to her we honor and worship her Son, who is more than happy to listen to His mother’s pleads on our behalf. The Memorare, invites us to ask the Blessed Mother for her assistance and her grace, especially when we feel most troubled in our daily lives.

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
memorare REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
