The Cult of Asclepios Greek God of Healing Built Temples – Asclepions
Sick people visited temples – while there they performed several rituals 1) Make an offering or sacrifice to the God 2) Bathe in the sea to cleanse themselves 3) Sleep for at least 1 night in the abaton – a building with open air on each side 4) Whilst in the abaton, patients expected to be visited by a God
