2. Figure Annual exacerbation rate by blood eosinophil count
Blood eosinophil count is a predictor of the exacerbation rate and treatment effect of ICS. Blood eosinophils are a probable marker of eosinophilic exacerbations predicting the effect of ICS on eosinophilic exacerbations, whereas exacerbations of other causes remain unchanged in their rate when with or without ICS. Data are from post-hoc analyses of clinical trials. ICS=inhaled corticosteroid.
