But what do you think is going on with this 4 part argument??
Reason 1 Dennis punched Bob. Dennis deserves to be severely punished. A beating with a cane is a severe punishment. So Dennis deserves to be caned. Intermediate Conclusion Reason 2 Final Conclusion

But what about this example:
(R1) Transporting food across large distances increases the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. (IC) So this is likely to result in climate change and massive human suffering. (R2) Moreover people can live very well without exotic food from distant lands. (C) So we should be content with foods grown locally.
