2 Figure 1 Toxocara canis eggs, some containing infective larvae, taken under direct interference contrast (DIC) microscopy. Toxocara spp. commonly parasitize dogs and cats. Humans may become infected by ingesting larvated eggs (from contaminated soil or vegetables) or larvae in undercooked animal tissue.
