Progenics Pharmaceuticals – Prophix story
Operating since: Unknown Head office: Tarrytown, New York Annual revenue: Number of employees: >130 G/L or ERP: Microsoft Dynamics GP, Jovaco Company website: Company background: Implementation via partner: AKA Enterprise Solutions Progenics Pharmaceuticals is taking a proactive approach to fighting serious diseases. The company develops biotech drugs with oncology and virology applications, as well as therapeutics used in clinical care settings. Progenics' commercial product Relistor, which blocks the side effects of opioids without lessening their pain-killing power, is approved as an injectable treatment for opioid-induced constipation (OIC) in terminally ill patients. The drug was developed in collaboration with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals (now part of Pfizer). Also in the firm's pipeline are a therapeutic vaccine for prostate cancer, as well as a monoclonal antibody for treating HIV. Business problems that lead to evaluating CPM, adopting Prophix: Took too long to report data because they had complex allocations, which they automated through Excel. They needed to conduct allocations for regulatory compliance per their pharmaceutical clinical trials. Managing their budgeting offline was problematic. Templates would break or crash. Problems with accountability for budgets and having people submit on time.

Progenics Pharmaceuticals – Prophix story
Their Prophix solution: Financial reporting package pulls trial balances directly out of Microsoft Dynamics GP. 2 cubes: 1) financial cube and 2) personnel cube in Detailed Planning Manager (DPM). From Jovaco, their project system, we pull in their FTE data and allocate their time spent to various projects for more precise project costing to meet their regulatory requirements. Using Prophix, they budget for personnel down to the precise amounts. Use financial consolidation now that they acquired another (private) company, although this doesn’t use Financial Controller. 2 companies with consolidated data / reporting. Progenics basically acquired this company for their patents. The company is otherwise dormant. Investigate the profitability of their clinical trials. Determine how much of their grant money goes toward each project. Based on phase 2 implementation in Q2 2014, Progenics uses SmartMonitor for variance exception reporting, tracking the differences between budgets and actuals. They also added a 3rd cube: CapEx planning in (DPM). Tracking furniture, lease hold improvements, software, equipment. Like other CapEx planning, this cube allows them to more accurately plan their balance sheet (accumulated depreciation) as well as their income statement (current month depreciation). Chris Porter set up further integration with Jovaco, automatically loading hours spent on projects. This allows them to allocate personnel costs to research and development (R&D) costs to projects. This allows them to display very accurate project costs and progress for grant funding with the FDA.
