Suicide Prevention Taskforce Monthly QPR Gatekeeper Trainings Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) thru Dec. 2016 Nine County Mental Health Resource Listing Counseling Services/Matrix Psychological Services CIT Trained Police Officers The most important thing to share when sharing this slide is to find a way to encourage help-seeking behavior doing so aligns with Safe Messaging Guidelines. Here is a brief example: “To seek help for yourself, or if you are worried about someone who is experiencing distress and who is at risk of suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at TALK (8255). This lifeline is available 24/7. If you are hearing impaired, contact the Suicide Prevention Lifeline via TTY by dialing 1(800)   For immediate help, dial 911.” Suicide Prevention Taskforce established December 2014 Details on SPTF efforts are found at Columbus State: Monthly QPR Gatekeeper Trainings Question Persuade Refer (QPR) For Columbus State Students and Employees Question. Persuade. Refer. (QPR) is a proven suicide prevention gatekeeper course that reduces suicidal behaviors and saves lives by providing innovative and practical skills to trainees. Columbus State will have on-site QPR Instructors available to offer at least one QPR Gatekeeper Training per month, free of charge for a limited time to students and employees with interest in participating. Participants will learn: How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide The common causes of suicidal behavior The warning signs of suicide How to get help for someone in crisis Training Dates Coming Soon! Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) For Columbus State Employees MHFA is a (one-day) 8-hour course that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives participants the skills they need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. Columbus State in partnership with the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health (ADAMH) Board of Franklin County will be hosting one Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training per month between April and September 2016 at our downtown campus. Confirmed dates for MHFA Training are: May 16, June 20, July 25, August 15, and September 19 and space is limited.
