Week of August 20, 2018 Parent signature: Mrs. Dasher Peek into the week Spelling Pattern Students will: Reading/Phonics:/Writing read and spell words with short o read The Dot; visualize, connect, retell, name characters; write an opinion learn that writing is telling a story on paper and write their own story. Math: count backwards and forwards on a 120 chart and a number line Identify numbers that come before and after to 30 identify more and less than a given number and more and less in a set Draw and count tally marks Use ten frames to count and represent numbers Use subitizing cards to add one, two and three and subtract one Science: answer the question “How is the weather different in each season?” “How does that affect us, plants, and animals?” Short vowel cvc words pot rod mom Homework Complete the following activities found in the homework folder and return all homework to school on Friday inside the homework folder. Tally marks (2 pages) read passage and answer questions read 4 books and record on your log Parents please sign the newsletter (indicating that you’ve read the info) on the line below the date. Special notes Reminders Please sign up for REMIND if you haven’t already done so. It’s an easy and important communication tool. I would hate for you to miss reminders of things going on at school.. Ice cream is sold every Wednesday for $1. All students will earn the PBIS reward at the end of each month UNLESS they have 3 or more parent contacts for negative behavior. I will be sending home sight word booklets with students. Sight words must be memorized. Having a large sight vocabulary helps students with both fluency and comprehension. In order for a word to be considered part of your child’s sight vocabulary, he or she should be able to read the word within 3 seconds without sounding it out. Students will be rewarded as they finish each list and again when they finish the booklet. Thanks for helping your child with this important skill.. We are having a box tops contest. The class who collects the most will receive a prize. It will go through the month of September. August: 24- PTSO popcorn and coke $1 31- PBIS reward popsicles and extra recess September: 3: No School-Labor Day holiday 4- progress reports
