Root word: the most basic form of a word for which the meaning can be changed by adding prefixes and suffixes Examples: antigovernment, disrespectful, multifunctional Prefix: placed before the root word, holds it’s own meaning Suffix: placed after the root word, holds it’s own meaning Synonym: words that have the same meaning Friendly and genial, giant and huge, disgusting and putrid Antonyn: words that have opposite meanings Friendly and rude, giant and tiny, disgusting and delightful
