In mainland of China, there are many universities and institutes are working with natural language processing. CIPS is an academic organization supervised by the Association of Sciences and Technology of China. NLPR, CAS-IA /12/4

In 2007 and 2008 A national joint conference on computational linguistics of China is organized in each year of odd number. In 2007, it was held in Dalian city, and in 2009 it will be held in Yantai city. The total number of participants is about 300. A national student conference on computational linguistics is organized in each year of even number. In 2008, it will be held in Shanxi University, Taiyuan City. In 2007 and 2008 An annual meeting of young scientists on NLP is regularly organized. In 2007 it was held in Suzhou city, and in 2008 it will be held in Beijing. An annual workshop on evaluation of machine translation is well organized. It started from In 2007 it was held in Harerbin Institute of Technology, and this year it will be held in connection with the national student conference in Taiyuan City. NLPR, CAS-IA /12/4

In 2007 and 2008 All the conferences and workshops mentioned above are all under CIPS. And also, an IEEE International Conference on NLP and Knowledge Engineering (IEEE NLP-KE) is jointly organized by CIPS and the Association of Artificial Intelligence of China. It is started from 2003, and was held in each odd year. From 2008, it will be held in each even year. NLPR, CAS-IA /12/4

In 2007 and 2008 In addition, Chinese LDC ( works well under CIPS. About the organization of COLING'2010, we held some meetings respectively in Peking University and Institute of Automation, CAS. Now everything is prepared smoothly. NLPR, CAS-IA /12/4
