To plan the New Deal, FDR sought the advice of a diverse group of men and women The press nicknamed them the “Brain Trust” He also nominated Republicans to his cabinet, because he wanted the best FDR depended on his wife She traveled to serve as FDR’s “eyes and ears”

The First 100 Days: During his first 100 days in office, FDR proposed and Congress passed 15 bills This became known as the First New Deal

Eight days after becoming President, Roosevelt delivered an informal radio speech to the American people These would continue and became known as fireside chats From March 1933 to June 1944, Roosevelt addressed the American people 30 speeches via radio They became important ways for Roosevelt to communicate with the people
