ArchiveGrid.org (an amateur genealogist):
WOW oh WOW, if only it wasn't tax season!! I could spend hours on this site, already wrote down a number of archives which have information for which I am STILL searching for information! I could spend hours on this, but then again, I could and have spent hours walking through cemeteries from Michigan & IL to Mass, Ontario and CT and places in between! thanks for the tip on this--very well done, I love it!

ArchiveGrid.org From GeneaBlogie:
“Last night as I was surfing the ‘Net, I happened on a site that led me to ArchiveGrid.org. So I was curious about what this could do for me. I selected one of my family names, Birdsong, and typed it in… The very first—I say again, the very first of 19 hits was for the Emory University collection of papers related to George Lawrence Forsyth Preston Birdsong, whose story has been told in this space several times.”

We have had an unprecedented number of visitors fill out the very simple survey Arnold developed for ArchiveGrid. We’ve even had someone contact us via “feedback” to ask about the survey – so we must be doing something right there. The high number of survey's filled out, in addition to the amount of traffic we are getting show us the "reach" of our marketing efforts. So, who is coming? (slide)

ArchiveGrid.org - statistics
A summary of the survey totals: Genealogists, a lot of them. What this doesn’t tell us is whether they are finding the experience valuable Faculty; shows our listserve postings and targeted announcements are paying off Other: the other big group. These are probably from the library world but again the data is raw and that’s just a guess, since we didn’t provide a way for librarians to identify who they are. The last thing I’ll mention is the surprising number of pricing inquiries we've already received: about a dozen via the “feedback” button in the system, and RIC has received about that number directly to their or by phone. It’s not surprising in one respect, as we know libraries have to submit budgets well in advance, and also we know that staff don’t like to promote a resource to faculty and students that they can’t support or purchase later: create a demand for something they won’t be able to fill. It may also highlight the fact that we could have included a general statement about pricing in our launch announcements – some folks did in fact revise the recommended text to wrap that in two or three days into sending announcements. But it is also a very high number in a very short time for a new product, so we are encouraged that following the free period we will be able to capitalize on the momentum of the promotional efforts and bring in several new subscriptions.
