Goldilocks & The Three Bears Nursery Summer 1 Week 2
Expressive Arts and Design Our role play will be the Three Bears Cottage, the children can play together, listening to each others ideas and acting out the story taking on the roles of the characters. On the creative table the children will be cutting out the parts of a bear and then putting them together using different joining materials. Physical Development We will continue to do our finger and upper body exercises in dough gym. During our PE time we will be remembering the movements we made last week and using them in the song ‘When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears’. On our fine motor table we will be using our fine motor skills to link the elephants together to make a repeating pattern. Phonics In phonics some children will be playing lots of listening games and the older children will be learning all about the letter ‘r’, what sound it makes and objects that begin with that sound. Personal, Social, Emotional Development Our SEAL topic is – Relationships. The theme is about exploring our feelings within important relationships such as family and friends. It aims to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in three key social and emotional aspects of learning: self-awareness, managing feelings and empathy. In addition there is a focus throughout on helping your child understand the feeling associated with loss whether of a favourite possession, a friend, a family home or a loved one. This week the children will say how they feel when their mums or dads leave them at nursery. Mathematics The children will be using the compare bears to make a repeating pattern. We will look at what a repeating pattern is and the different ways we can make one. The younger children will be learning about the number three. They will be counting the bears, bowls, chairs and beds that belonged to the three bears. They will be finding out what number 3 looks like, writing it in sand and counting out three bears from a larger number. Goldilocks & The Three Bears Nursery Summer 1 Week 2 Speaking & Listening In their key groups the children will be discussing whether it was right for Goldilocks to walk into the bears cottage, the dangers and how the characters felt at different parts of the story.
