1 Poster Session Guidelines
Create poster in PowerPoint or MS-Word. A poster is an ad, not a report. Present your “message” clearly and quickly. Make your text legible and in as large a font as possible. Headings should be in a “clean” type style, such as Arial or Helvetica, and at least size 28. Other text should be in serif type styles, such as Times, and at least size 26. Limit capitalization-lower case letters are easier to read. Emphasize figures and pictures. Minimize the amount of text. Posters will be presented on 36” x 48” tri-fold presentation boards (available from major office supply stores). Panels can be printed in portrait or landscape format, but must fit on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Each panel is then mounted on colored (blue, black or gray) construction paper. The maximum number of panels that will fit comfortably is about 10. Use column format, with panels progressing in logical format: Introduction and/or Purpose, Method, Results, and Data (figures or tables) and Conclusions.
