3 Why Do You Need To Know This? Subtracting fractions is important because many real-world situations deal with fractions. Such as recipes, measurements, distances, lengths, and heights.

4 Subtracting Like Fractions Subtract the numerators. Keep the same denominator. Simplify if needed.

6 Subtracting Unlike Fractions Find the least common denominator. Change the numerators. Subtract the numerators and keep the denominator. Simplify.
