Figure Immunological profiles described in community-acquired pneumonia Patients were admitted to hospital wards or the ICU,1,2 the ICU only,3,5–8 or a hospital ward only.4 Four studies1,2,5,6 included patients with community-acquired pneumonia of any cause, three studies3,7,8 included patients who developed community-acquired pneumonia during the 2009 global influenza virus pandemic, and one study4 included patients with community-acquired pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae.
