Summer SWAC at Loyalist
An opportunity for high school students to attend summer school at Loyalist College Eligible students can earn two high school credits and one college credit in less than four weeks

Primary Target Group Students falling behind in credit accumulation who are eligible for credit recovery Students with the potential to succeed in a college environment If seats remain, dual credit courses are available to students wishing to increase credits only

Selection Process Through secondary school credit recovery and student success teams Through established interview processes Completion of required registration Secondary school credit recovery and student success includes Student guidance Special Education Alternative Education and Student success teachers School Principal and/or vice principal

SWAC Dual Credit Component
Delivered by college faculty Students are monitored and supported by secondary school teachers Students receive a college transcript

SWAC Credit Recovery/ Credit Improvement
Students upgrade previously attempted school course Taught by secondary school teachers Students receive a provincial report card

How it works Students take one of four dual credit course offerings
Dual credits require 2X per week Credit recovery requires 1X to 3X per week (determined on an individual basis) Offerings have included: Automotive (suspension, steering & brakes) Culinary (baking or cooking) Esthetics (nails or makeup) TVNM Construction Renovation/Carpentry Dual credits are hands-on – in Loyalist College labs, studios, shops The college provides classrooms for secondary school teachers/students for credit recovery work Classrooms equipped with computers, printers Transportation needs are considered on an individual basis – students living in the area are provided with bus tickets, those in rural areas take taxis, and those who are able to drive have access to free parking
