To demonstrate techniques for applying slide transitions. To identify procedures for applying animations to objects.

5 Slide Transitions Are animation-like effects which occur when moving from one slide to another during a presentation Keep in mind when applying transitions, they should enhance the presentation rather than distract from the points trying to be made.

6 Slide Transitions Are located on the Transitions tab on the Ribbon
Can be inserted by choosing a transition from the gallery in the Transition to This Slide group different variations of the selected transition can be found by clicking Effect Options Can be previewed by clicking Preview Variations allow users to change the properties of the transition, such as its direction or style.

7 Slide Transitions Can be further customized by setting timing and appearance options in the Timing group to change how long a transition takes edit the Duration to advance slides when the mouse is clicked check On Mouse Click to advance slides after a specified time check After and set a time Can be applied to all slides in a presentation by clicking Apply to All

8 Slide Transitions Can be removed by selecting the slides which needs to have the transition removed then clicking None in the transitions gallery

12 Animations Are movements which can be applied to objects in a presentation Are located on the Animations tab in the gallery in the Animation group different variations of the selected transition can be found by clicking Effect Options Can be previewed by clicking Preview

13 Animations Can be categorized as: entrance effects emphasis effects
exit effects motion paths Keep in mind, animations should be used in moderation. Adding too many animations can be distracting to the audience.

14 Entrance Effects Dictate how an object appears on the slide
Are represented by green icons

15 Emphasis Effects Occur while the object is on the slide
Are represented by yellow icons

16 Exit Effects Dictate how an object is removed from the slide
Are represented by red icons

17 Motion Paths Move an object within a slide along a predetermined path
Are represented by a path with start and end points

18 More Effects Can be accessed by clicking on the More options at the bottom of the gallery when clicked a dialog box containing additional effects will open which can be applied to objects

19 Animations Can be applied by selecting the object and choosing an effect from the gallery and the effect will be applied

20 Animations When applied to an object will place a small number next to the object When applied to objects on a slide will have a star symbol next to the slide in the Thumbnail pane

21 Effect Options Allow users to control different properties of the applied effect Can be found by clicking Effect Options in the Animation group Not all effects will have options which can change. Also, the options which can be changed will vary based on the type of effect. For example, the direction, number of spokes or sequence of how an object appears can be changed.

22 Animations Can be started by a mouse click or before or after a previous animation to set this property, in the Timing group specify the option you need in the Start drop down Run for a specified amount of time to set this property, in the Timing group specify a duration length Can be run after a set period of time to set this property, in the Timing group specify a delay length

23 Animations Can be removed by selecting the small number located next to the animated object and pressing the Delete key

24 Multiple Effects Can be added to an object by clicking the Add Animation icon in the Advanced Animation group and choosing another effect from the gallery if another effect from the gallery is selected in the Animation group, it will replace the current animation

25 Objects Which have multiple effects applied to them will have a different number for each effect the numbers indicate the order in which the effects will occur to reorder the effects, select the number you want to change and in the Timing group click the Move Earlier or Move Later commands beneath Reorder Animation

26 Animation Pane Allows users to view and manage the effects which are on the current slide Can be opened by clicking Animation Pane in the Advanced Animation group

27 Animation Pane Opens on the right side of the window
Shows all of the effects for the current slide in the order they will appear to reorder the animations, click on the animation and drag it to a new location or use the arrows to move the animation up or down to preview the animations click Play From in the Animation Pane
