What are some things in current society that could be criticized?
Keep in mind this could be on the international, national, regional, or local level.
Pick ONE topic on which you want to focus.
Figure out what your specific criticism is.

5. Satire: Disguise
What would be the best way to disguise your criticism?
Consider disguises that reflect your opinion (like the pigs in Animal Farm reflecting Orwell’s distaste for political leaders) but are not too obvious.
Remember to potentially disguise the location, characters, events, plot etc.
You could emulate a seemingly innocent genre, like Orwell does, or mimic a well-known “formula” if it works for your purposes.

Figure out which characters and events will be most beneficial to your satire.
Create a chart.
In the left hand column, write the events and characters of your story.
In the right hand column, write the modern equivalent.
