The guides told travellers where to go, what to see and where to stay. They were so popular that more were published for many years after Bradshaw died.

Rugeley
This station stands in an open place and faces the town of Rugeley, which will always be memorable on account of its having been the residence of doctor Palmer who was accused of poisoning his wife, brother and friend, John Parsons Cook. He was tried at the Old Bailey in London and found guilty. He was executed at Stafford, protesting all the while against the injustice of his sentence.
