Objective: The class will practice locomotor movement skills while learning the order and facts about each planet. Grades Kindergarten through Second 25-35 minutes

4 Prepare for Launch! Equipment and Preparation: Nine planetary stations
Manipulatives with planet facts Planet models Numbered cones Hula hoops for each student

5 Introductory activity
Planet Order Stretch Say planet names in order while stretching head to toe. Use for closing activity.

6 HOOP TRIP TO THE PLANETS
Blast Off! On earth, students enter space ships. Class counts down to blast off! Students use first locomotor skill to fly to first planet. life on mars! Students will land on each planet and exit space ship. Students will pass around model planet. Students will learn about each planet. Students will answer questions about that planet. Next scheduled launch! Students will enter space ships again. Students will use a different locomotor movement to get to the next planet. Students will fly back to earth after visiting each planet.

Informal, Formative Assessment Watch children complete locomotor movements between planets Verbally quiz children about facts and order of the planets Safety Concerns Plenty of room Open clear space No running or sprinting locomotor movements
