Glutathione (GSH) synthesis, regulated by Gclm (glutamate cysteine ligase) and Gss (glutathione synthetase), and transcription factor FoxO1, is reduced following treatment with buthionine sulphoximine (BSO) and results in increased levels of ROS, radiosensitization of breast CSCs, and abolishment of selective survival of breast CSCs in the presence of IR (right).
