2. BACKGROUND
At the meeting of the R1 Excom on March 25 as an outgrowth of the Strategic Planning report and discussion,
Motions were made and passed to:
Create the position of R1 Ombudsman
That the role of Ombudsman be assigned to the Director-Elect
That an ad hoc committee be formed to establish the process

5. OMBUDSMAN
Investigates complaints and tries to deal with problems fairly
Investigates, reports on, and helps settle complaints

6. PROCESS R1 member contacts R1 Ombudsman by email
R1 Ombudsman acknowledges receipt of complaint or question
Depending upon degree of seriousness, R1 Ombudsman develops solution and communicates result to member
If R1 Ombudsman believes that complaint is more serious, then R1 Ombudsman discusses with R1 Director to effect a solution
R1 Ombudsman reports activity to R1 ExCom quarterly
