Reimbursement of Transportation Charges from to for lifting of food grains for MDM Excess claim of Rs.1.61 crore during (Audit Para no of Report No. PA -13 of 2008 –transport claim upto to school level even though food grains are not delivered at school level. 2. Findings of Monitoring Institute
Districts covered : RiBhoi & West Khasi Hills Positive Features : The quality of food grains is good. No discrimination is observed in cooking and serving MDM Quality of meal and Quantity of meal was sufficient and children are happy with MDM. Potable water is available in almost all the schools visited.

Inclusion of Pre-primary children under MDM.
Areas of Concern MDM is interrupted in 8 schools in Ri Bhoi and 5 schools in West Khasi district due to non supply of food grains. Inclusion of Pre-primary children under MDM. Due to non payment of TA to wholesalers, schools are not receiving food grains regularly. The extent of delay is sometimes two to three months. Food grains are not delivered at the school level.

Food grains are stored in the home of the Secretaries or Head teachers
Areas of Concern Food grains are stored in the home of the Secretaries or Head teachers Schools are not displaying the menu. Menu is decided at the district level. Children are not given micronutrients (Iron, folic acid, vitamin – A dosage) and de-worming medicine periodically. Health cards are not maintained in schools.
