a fully customizable survey (with a mobile-friendly option) expert guidance through webinars or in-person workshops data entry, scanning, and analysis district- and building-level reports full access and ownership to data consultation and professional development for administrators, staff, parents, and other stakeholders worksheets and other tools to facilitate school improvement planning 41 items on the survey 7 sections, including a set of demographic questions, with other optional sections 6 scales – Information sharing, communicating, leadership and participation, education quality, support services, and school climate Opportunities for translation into different languages 12/4/2018

Family-School Engagement Survey Parent/caregiver perspectives of services and conditions for… Empowering families with information to support learning at home Creating two-way communication between home and school Expectations for students, quality of instruction and meeting students’ individual learning needs Opportunities for families to participate in school planning, leadership and goal-focused volunteering Connecting families to in-school and community-support resources Positive school climate Developed and piloted by the Ohio Department of Education in conjunction with experts at The Ohio State University To serve as a tool for school leaders to gauge their current family-school partnerships. It is designed to integrate well with your school improvement planning process, to provide opportunities to strengthen your family-school partnerships, and ultimately to improve the success of students. These constructs map onto research-based frameworks such as Epstein’s framework. PTA, MEA, Teacher’s Unions – they all have these as key areas of parent engagement work. Research demonstrates that schools can increase family involvement by offering a comprehensive set of services and conditions designed to engage families as true partners in their children’s learning. These services and conditions are divided into six “factors.” Incorporating rigorous research methods so that the data is reliable and valid. We are planning to publish a study in an academic journal about some of the survey data we have.
