Hitler Joins National Socialist German Worker’s Party (Nazis) 1923: Beer Hall Putsch – Hitler tries and fails to overthrow the government; Hitler goes to prison; while in prison he realizes must take power legally 1924: Hitler writes Mein Kampf (My Struggle) in prison; in that book he explains his plan to conquer the East and create a master race When he gets out of jail that year he reorganizes the Nazi Party
