1 What causes movement in the universe?
To express how movement happens in the cosmos. To analyse the Prime Mover according to Aristotle. To evaluate the Prime Mover as a proof of God’s existence. Do Now: what do all of these things have in common? A growing plant Boiling water Soup cooling down Something burning. They are all moving and changing.

2 Read p.1-3 in your pack and answer the following questions:
How did Aristotle claim that we gain knowledge? Why does the chair you are sitting on exist? What are the four types of cause? Why are Aristotle’s ideas about cause & explanation important? What is the theory of the Prime Mover? What are the differences between Plato and Aristotle's idea of the soul? What is Christian thoughts of God a combination of? (Explain each of these individually).

3 Three great thinkers of the world….
Plato Taught Socrates Taught Aristotle = AN AMAZING EDUCATION!!!

4 Activation: what was the chain of events which caused this to be the situation?
Make a chain of events around the photo going back as far as you can. What point does each chain get to? Activation 2: Read ‘Aristotle and the Prime Mover’ from p.54/55 of your pack.

5 Final Cause: The reason for something to be brought about.
Demonstration: In your own words explain Aristotle's argument for the Prime Mover. Include the terms ‘Efficient Cause’ and ‘Final Cause’. Efficient Cause = something capable of performing an action to create a result. E.g.: If I push a chair and it falls over I am the efficient cause of that chair falling over. Final Cause: The reason for something to be brought about. E.g.: God is the reason why the universe is in constant change because he provides a purpose for it to be in motion. He provides the overall attraction things have for one another which causes them to move and have an effect.

6 Consolidation: What are the key differences between Aristotle's Prime Mover and the God of Classical Theism? Note three: 1.) 2.) 3.)
