Recommendation: “Establish annual/semi-annual computer purchases College saved around $12,000 with recent bulk purchases with ~200 – saving would be larger if university-wide”

3. 5b. Computer Purchases
Response: In April 2013, the Technology Product Center (TPC)and college-division IT managers collaborated to agree on a small set of standard PC configurations the colleges were planning to purchase with year-end funds. The TPC negotiated substantial volume discounts with Dell, which allowed the colleges and divisions to save $223,839 over and above UCF’s regular discounts. Based on the success of this initiative, Dell extended the discounted prices into FY The TPC and college-division IT managers are currently developing new PC configurations, which will be negotiated with Dell for purchases occurring later in the year. We expect this process to be undertaken at least twice a year ongoing.
