Graph and Solve Quadratic Inequalities
Notes 4.9 (Day 1) Graph and Solve Quadratic Inequalities
2
Graphing quadratic inequalities:
Step 1: Check to see if the curve should be dashed or solid Step 2: Graph the inequality Step 3: Check a point inside or outside the equality to determine which side to shade
3
Graphing a parabola (quadratics) for beginners:
Step 1: Make a t-chart with 5 x values, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2. Step 2: Plot the points. Step 3: Draw a curve through the points

How to graph a quadratic in the form
Step 1: Find the x – coordinate of the vertex Step 2: Plug the x - coordinate in to find the y coordinate of the vertex Step 3: Graph the vertex Step 4: Graph the y intercept (c value) Step 5: Draw the axis of symmetry (through the vertex) Step 6: Plot the point opposite to the y intercept (reflects across axis of symmetry) Step 7: Connect the points and form a parabola

How to graph a quadratic in vertex form:
Step 1: Plot the vertex. Step 2: Pick two values on one side of the vertex Step 3: Use a t-chart to solve for those two values Step 4: Draw the axis of symmetry Step 5: Reflect the parabola’s other half across the axis of symmetry

How to graph a quadratic in Intercept Form:
Step 1: Find the x intercepts (p, 0), and (q, 0) Step 2: Find the x-coordinate of the vertex Step 3: Plug the x-coordinate of the vertex into the equation to find the y-coordinate of the vertex Step 4: Plot the intercepts and vertex on the graph and connect the points with a curve Step 5: Label the axis of symmetry
