6 The Core Values of an organization’s leader also greatly influences the organization.

7 Pastor Mark’s core values he brings into our culture
Faith is always positive (so be positive instead of negative) (Hebrews 11:1). Build people up, instead of putting them down (Ephesians 4:29). Foster healthy relationships and people skills (Ephesians 4 et al). The greatest is love and everything must be done with love (I Corinthians 13:13). Unity is a gift from God that we are to preserve since the number one thing God hates is discord. (Prov. 6:16-19).

11 Review Build People UP

12 Review- Build People UP
Start with changing yourself – your words. Words have the power of life and death- Proverbs 18:21. Ephesians 4:29- Exclusively build people up.

13 Part One: My Brother’s Keeper

14 Genesis 4:9

15 We are called by God to be our brother’s keeper, to truly care, help and seek the best for others.

16 The Great Commandments… Note both are in the positive instead of “Thou shalt not” they are “love”.

17 Part Two: My Brother’s Builder

18 My Brother’s Builder In a wounding world… we are called to heal.
People can always find someone to ridicule, criticize, intimidate, humiliate, belittle, mock, call names and wound their spirit. We are called by God to build people up, never to put people down.

19 My Brother’s Builder I Thessalonians 5:11My Brother’s Builder
Romans 14:19 Building up is what you should pursue in life. Ephesians 4:12 Build the church body. 1 Corinthians 14:26 Build up people in everything at church.

20 Part Three: My Brother’s Starting Block

21 A Problem at Corinth… A city of idols and idol worship.
Meat sacrificed to idols was norm. Often associated with prostitution. Those who knew idols are nothing weren’t bothered by eating the meat.

22 A Problem at Corinth… New, sensitive or for whatever reason, some wrongly associated it with ungodly practices and it caused them to stumble. Paul answers their question… “Now concerning…”

23 The Solution = Love Before we get to I Cor. 13- the love chapter.
We define love as building people up. Knowledge puffs up (thinking I’m better than others) but love builds up.

24 The Solution = Love Not everybody gets it… V. 7.
Don’t be a stumbling block… V. 9. You are wounding someone Christ died for! V. 11. Causing others to stumble is a sin against them and against Christ. Paul pledges to love enough and therefore never do what would cause someone else to stumble. Will you?
