2. Updated Weather Report
Highlights Provided by
National Weather Service:
A tropical storm warning is now in effect
for parts of northeast NC
A storm surge warning remains in effect
for areas near the western Albemarle Sound
Florence is expected to make landfall Friday 
morning as a dangerous hurricane 
As it makes landfall, the storm will slow down allowing for heavy rainfall to persist through the weekend
Dangerous flooding is possible especially across southern VA and northeast NC
With the heavy rainfall, and moderate to strong winds, downed trees are possible
Storm surge flooding is expected Friday into Saturday, with locally major impacts, especially near Albemarle Sound

3. 9/12/18 Significant Updates
Several LTC facilities in the tidewater area of the state evacuated yesterday.
1 LTC facility in Central Region received 4 residents.
Hampton VA Hospital completed its inpatient evacuation but will keep its ED open for as long as possible.
Heavy rains passed through a portion of the Richmond area, prompting Flash Flood Warnings Tuesday evening.

Long Term Care Facility Evacuations began yesterday 9/11/2018 from North Carolina and VA Eastern Region
Multiple State managed shelters delayed opening to tomorrow (9/13/2018) with Medical Staffing
Central Region: VCU Siegel Center in Richmond, VA /13/18
Activating mandated Statewide Sit Reps. Beginning TODAY 3PM

All Hospitals / LTC / Dialysis Facilities mandated to complete Situational Reporting

If you have DIALYSIS units in hospital please make sure you are updating the dialysis specific bed status as well

8. Long Term Care Facilities:
Pre-landfall Evacuations are actively occurring
Monitor VHASS and SMS Alerts for critical developments.
Central likely to receive residents.
Inter-region evacuations will be communicated to you through the Coalition.
Be prepared to use resident tracking system.
Be prepared to implement surge plans
Keep LTC Status Board updated with current bed availability.

9. Dialysis Clinics: Ensure Safety/Disaster Messaging with clients
Educate on the need for 3 day kits
Have clients review alternate transport options
Relay greatest desire is for patient to get to clinic / stay out of hospital
Event Log posts on forecasted closings are appreciated.
Keep Dialysis Status Board updated with accurate information throughout event.

10. Medically Vulnerable Patients:

Home health
Establish and maintain an “At Risk Registry”
Identify alternate caregivers whenever possible
Provide with information on State Managed Shelters 211 / 511 services
