4 Retention Procedures Criteria – Why Student has not entered school.
Student is a young age relevant to other students at their grade level. Strategic and Intensive Interventions are in place but student achievement remains below grade level. SSTs have been held and interventions documented along with the results of those interventions. Timelines – How An SST must be held: Trimester One: First Notice/Conference Summary Sheet/Record of Student Participation in Interventions Trimester Two: Second Notice/Conference Summary Sheet/Record of Student Participation in Interventions Trimester Three: Third Notice/Conference Summary Sheet/Record of Student Participation in Interventions Final Decision is due no later than May 1st. 5 504: Individuals with Disabilities Act
The Why A student must demonstrate a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits a major life activity i.e. seeing, hearing, walking, learning, other. Student does not require Special Education. The How Send invitation along with a copy of the Parent Rights to parents. At the meeting, complete the Accommodation Plan determining qualification. Develop Accommodations. Review Annually completing Annual Review Meeting forms.

6 must be entered into ‘Q’ – Foster and Homeless
McKinney/Vento Act Addresses the problems that homeless children and youth have faced in enrolling, attending and succeeding in school. Homeless are defined as: Shared housing of other persons due to economic hardship Living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds. Living in emergency or transitionsl shelters Abandoned in hospitals Awaiting foster care Primary nighttime residence that is public or private and not designed as a regular sleeping accommodation. What we can do(applies to our Foster Youth as well) Provide Backpacks and school supplies Free/Reduced Lunch Transportation to Home School Important to Note: Newly identified students must be entered into ‘Q’ – Foster and Homeless To be considered homeless, parent/guardian cannot be providing funds to support a shared household.
