11 Efforts Aligned with ANS National Strategic Plan
Professional Development Through strong support of technical presentations by THD members at the national meetings, embedded topical meetings, NUTHOS and NURETH conferences, members have an opportunity to interact with other members in the field, to have immediate feedback on their technical work, and to have the opportunity to have important technical interchanges.  THD provides travel support to its student members for presenting their technical work at these conferences. Sharing Information and Advancements in Technology The ANS THD sponsored NURETH (International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Reactor Thermal Hydraulics) conference series is the premier technical meeting for thermal hydraulic fundamentals, computer codes, experimental techniques, methods, and related design analysis. High-quality papers from NURETH proceedings are also selected for publication in reputable journals. Class III and IV meetings such as ATH and NUTHOS are also actively organized. Engaging the public There are no formal THD programs in place that explicitly address this point; however, THD has been supporting ANS Student Conferences, where public engagement can be realized by local student chapters. Engaging the policy makers There are no formal programs or processes in place; however, issues related to policy topics including loss-of-coolant accidents, severe accidents, and design requirements are often discussed in papers that are presented at THD sponsored conferences, special workshops and sessions at the national meetings

12 Summary Conference Participation
ANS National Meeting Participation 2016 Winter Meeting – 16 sessions, more than 90 summaries 2017 Annual Meeting – 12 sessions, more than 65 summaries Topicals NURETH-16 (Chicago) – Every two years since 1980: Class II ATH-16 Embedded Topical (2016) – Every two years since 2012: Class III NUTHOS-11, 2016 (Gyeongju, Korea) – Every two years since 1984: Class IV

13 Summary Areas of Success Healthy Division membership trends
Increased international participation in all division areas Active member participation in technical meetings Increased participation of students and young members Flagship topical and embedded topicals continue to thrive Significant number of member publications Continued support for student scholarships and student travel to the national meetings and student conferences

14 Summary Focus for Future Action
