2 STORYTELLING UNIT: DAY 8
Instructions: Correct the following sentence in the Bell Ringer section of your notebook. Draw a line separating the subject part of the sentence from the predicate. 6 VOCABULARY SPOTLIGHT 5 minutes
Use the examples to determine meaning of tier two vocabulary. The diamond jewelry that Beth wore to the family picnic was ostentatious. After we lost the big game, the tension in the locker-room was palpable; although, no one spoke a word. Tony preferred the provincial comforts of life on the farm. 7 Music Connection 20 mins Instructions:
Listen to The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald Discuss universal topics and emerging themes Compare/contrast with the picture on the back of the lyrics sheet. Explain the connection between the two. Can you identify connections with The Most Dangerous Game?

8 Journal Entry minutes In the journal section of your binder, answer the following prompt using your best grammar and neatest penmanship. Answers may be ½ to one full page. Why is it important to tell the story of The Most Dangerous Game? Be specific. Make text-to-world connections. Use evidence if possible.

9 Examining Story Structure 30 mins.
10 minutes: Read each Super Short story on the sheet provided. Which story elements are missing? 10 minutes: In your reading circle, discuss how the missing elements impact the story and the reader. 10 minutes: Share your thoughts with whole class.

10 Binder Check! Make certain that your binder is labeled with your first and last name as well as the class period. You may pick-up binders Monday morning prior to the beginning of class or during class.

11 Clean-up & Announcements 5 minutes
