1 What is Maths-Whizz? Virtual tutor for your child online
Adapts to your child’s unique needs Works like the best tutors Fun, interactive lessons full of animation Builds confidence, enjoyment and ability Online Virtual Adaptive Tutor for Maths Maths-Whizz constantly assesses your child’s ability after every lesson. This is adaptive; depending on how well your child has understood the learning objective, the Tutor will move him/her on to the next level within that topic, or adapt to support your child’s learning so they can achieve this at a later date. Simulates human tutor behaviour After every question, Maths-Whizz will be checking your child’s performance and offering helps as well as interventions if your child is doing well or needing more assistance. Individualised, personalised learning As the level is personalised to your child’s ability, it is important that the answers are completed independently. Remember, the Tutor will adapt to support your child’s curriculum needs, so the Tutor needs to understand exactly what your child does and does not know. Interactive animated lessons Your child will remain engaged with animated exercises, including support from a teaching section at the beginning. It is important that they concentrate during this section as this will demonstrate the methods to achieve this learning objective. Builds confidence, enjoyment and ability Maths-Whizz is self motivating as your child will receive credits for their hard work and efforts. They can use these to purchase virtual pets, toys and plants from the Whizz shop. (Up to 15 for an exercise, and up to 30 for a test. They can also earn up to 10 credits for Replay or Topic Bank).

2 Why Maths-Whizz? Every child deserves to learn in a way that suits their unique needs and pace. Maths-Whizz helps teachers to provide this. The Maths-Whizz Tutor simulates the behaviour of a human tutor, using an approach designed by our team of teachers, educationalists and curriculum experts.

3 How does Maths-Whizz work?
First, an initial assessment finds your child’s strengths and weaknesses across key topics, and works out a Maths Age score for each topic. The Maths-Whizz Tutor then delivers fun, interactive lessons that focus on strengthening your child’s weaker topics while developing stronger areas. This kind of approach is vital to progress in maths.

4 Your personal tutor Lessons tailored to your child’s specific needs
Clear visual explanations, interactive exercises Regular short tests to reinforce understanding Animated exercises begin with a short teaching section explaining the methods, followed by, typically, ten questions. The number of questions does differ on various exercises. Should your child get stuck on a question, they should have a go and try, if it’s incorrect, a visual or text prompt will appear to support them with their learning. Extra practice with Topic Bank and Replay
