Vocabulary List #2 inevitable adj.: unavoidable.
Example: It was inevitable that Ronnie the rhino would spend the weekend alone. crucial adj.: highly important. Example: Ronnie thought it was crucial that he make more friends. provocative adj.: stirring up thoughts or feelings. Example: Seeing the other rhinos playing games had a provocative effect on Ronnie.

irrevocably adv.: in a way that cannot be undone or changed. Example: Ronnie felt that he had irrevocably damaged his reputation after he forget his glasses and accidentally charged at a large tree. cognitive adj.: having to do with the process of knowing and being able to remember. Example: The incident with the tree damaged his brain and temporarily affected Ronnie’s cognitive reasoning. fugitives n.: people fleeing from danger. Example: Ronnie briefly considered becoming a fugitive and leaving his community.

incomprehensible adj.:
impossible to understand. Example: Ronnie’s parents found it incomprehensible that he wanted to run away and bought him a trampoline to make him feel better. incentive n.: reason to do something; motivation. Example: The trampoline gave Ronnie incentive to hang around. dispel v.: scatter; drive away. Example: He hoped that others would forget his accident with the tree, and eventually he could dispel the idea that he wasn’t very bright.

eloquence n.: ability to write or speak gracefully and convincingly. Example: Ronnie tried to show great eloquence whenever he was in the presence of the other rhinos. skimpy adj.: less than enough. Example: Ronnie also began eating skimpy portions, thinking that perhaps he was too fat. grudgingly adv.: reluctantly; unwillingly Ronnie grudgingly ate the meals that his mother provided for him.

gaunt adj.: very thin and bony. Example: Ronnie decided to start eating again when his face started to look gaunt. rummaged v.: searched through the contents of something. Example: Ronnie rummaged through his drawer to find his favorite cologne and then went for a walk through the woods. savoring v.: enjoying with great delight. Example: Imagine Ronnie’s surprise when he turned around and found Rita savoring his scent and checking out his nose-horn. Finally, he had found a special friend.
