The graphs depict the least effective (left panel) and most effective (right panel) intensity-based exercise protocols to apply load (or strain; με) and increase bone strength. Protocols with a high loading magnitude (the extent of bone deformation by loading), loading rate (the strain magnitude per second during acceleration or deceleration of loading) or loading amplitude (the amplitude of strain magnitude or strain rate) are more effective than protocols applying load with a low magnitude, rate or amplitude.
