We have looked previously at the Royal Navy / Royal Marine ranks & rates, we will now look at the equivalent in the Army and Air Force.
Note
Royal Marine ranks follow the Army except that at the Private level, the RM is Marine.

2. Royal Navy Army/RM Royal Air Force
Junior Ratings
Royal Navy Army/RM Royal Air Force
Ordinary Seaman = Private/Marine = Aircraftman
Able Seaman = Private/Marine = Leading Aircraftsman
= Lance Corporal = Senior Aircraftman
Leading Seaman = Corporal = Corporal

3. Note: At WO level there is WO2 and WO1
Senior Ratings
Royal Navy Army/RM Royal Air Force
Petty Officer = Sergeant = Sergeant
Chief Petty Officer = Staff/Colour Sergeant = Flight Sergeant
Warrant Officer = Warrant Officer = Warrant Officer
Note: At WO level there is WO2 and WO1

4. Officers Royal Navy Army/RM Royal Air Force
Midshipman = Second Lieutenant = Pilot Officer
Sub Lieutenant = Lieutenant =Flying Officer
Lieutenant = Captain = Flight Lieutenant

5. Officers Royal Navy Army/RM Royal Air Force Lieutenant
Commander = Major = Squadron Leader
Commander = Lieutenant Colonel = Wing Commander
Captain = Colonel = Group Captain
