4. Leadership is Everything – Recruit, Train, Deploy
Full support by senior leadership - provided a building and resources with belief rather than an expectation of return
Select a campus pastor who understood the “DNA”
A commitment to have a core group “own” the satellite
Start training the leaders early in the process

6. Cast the Vision — inspire your people
Define the vision and the goal of life transformation often
Be intentional about developing the culture (DNA)
Examples: authenticity and conflict resolution
The first community is staff
The campus pastor continually stresses the satellite philosophy — we are one church with three campuses
Host vision meetings at the main campus once you have gone public with the launch date and location

7. Build Your Team — get the right people on the bus
Campus pastor supported by a great team
Rally and recruit to get godly, gifted, passionate people on board
Recruit staff nine months prior to launch
Recruit and build the launch team three months prior to launch
Begin hosting a “satellite campus” service at main campus

8. Define Your Model — be clear on how you will operate
Teaching: video vs. live
Finances: shared vs. separate
Leadership: centralized v. decentralized

9. Follow an IPOD Strategy —  know what is Initial, Priority, Optional, and Don’t do
Initial: Sunday service, kids’ ministry and community groups
Priority: junior high, recovery, etc.
Optional: leadership development, stewardship, etc.
Don’t do it: we did not want to do adult "Sunday School classes”

10. People Over Projects — without love it won’t work and it won’t matter
Launching a campus is a lot of work and taxing on those involved. Laugh, cultivate friendships and rest knowing God is in control.
Make sure people are informed, connected and thanked.

11. Give Ministry Away — it’s all about discipleship
Discover great leaders and place them strategically in key roles
Meet with core leaders in small and large groups to remind them of vision, importance of role, satellite philosophy, etc.
Ask your people regardless of passion to make key teams their area of service for the first few months

12. Celebrate — give thanks and celebrate what God has done
Disband and celebrate with the launch team at the five-month mark and share stories of God at work
Life change is the metric of success — transformation through Jesus Christ
