2. Matter and Particles
Matter is everything that has mass & takes up space
Matter includes things we can easily observe
Matter also includes things not easily seen
Mass is the amount of matter something contains. For example: an elephant has a lot of mass; a leaf doesn’t have much mass but both are matter. Matter is made up of small bits called particles.

3. Particles are so small they can only be seen with the strongest microscopes.

4. Particles are arranged to form the states of matter:
Solids
Liquids
Gases

5. Solids have a specific shape take up a definite amount of space
particles are very close together.
Particles are very tight and stay close to their neighbor. They move together around one single point.

7. Liquids take the shape of its container

Particles slip and slide around each other.

9. Gas have no specific shape take up no definite amount of space
always fill the container it is in
Particles do not stay close together. They move around very fast.
