Reminder for World History
Unpack supplies each day, then put away backpack. Turn to the BACK of your notebook, and ANSWER the question (don’t need to copy it down). If we need textbooks, the walk-in slide may say who at the table (A,B,C,D) should get them.

Current Events Most days, we will watch CNM10 to keep up with what is happening in the news. Sometimes, we will discuss a topic in small groups or as a whole class. Sometimes, there may be something to write (paragraph to summarize a topic, circle map/organizer, etc.). Watch CNM10!

Ancient China – Building Background
Discuss with your group: How do we hear about China in today’s world and in the news? Do you have any connections or experience to Chinese culture? Describe them! Have you heard of any historical facts about China? Share them!

Predictions About Ancient China
What similarities do you predict we will see that other ancient civilizations shared? What differences might exist?

Video Clip to Build Background
Make a heading in your notebook for the video title: Ancient China – Contributions to the World Watch this video and listen for contributions made. After the video, write down 5 or more things you remember, and be ready to share your ideas during the group and class discussion!

Essential Questions About China – Group Project
Goal – We will research twelve essential questions about Ancient China. You will work in a group of three. Your group will divide the questions among the three people. After research, your group will prepare a Google Slides presentation and share it with the class!

The Essential Questions
The Essential Questions for China are in your project sheet for your group, and on the class webpage. Decide which questions each group member will do (4 each). In your notebook, make headings on four pages with each of your questions at the top. Write facts under the questions they go with. You will first research your questions using the textbook for basic information. Later you can use the Internet.

More Research After Using Your Textbook
Use a search engine like Google to look up more about each of your questions. Write down new information IN YOUR OWN WORDS! To use your own words: Use a synonym to change a word into your own words. Do not include words you don’t understand. Look up their meanings and include your explanation, rather than a word you don’t know. Change the order of the words. Sound like a 6th grader!

Using Google Slides Like PowerPoint, but more than one person can use it at a time! First person opens it by clicking the link. Then click File, then Make a Copy. Call it “Ancient China by Name 1, Name 2 and Name 3”. Click the Share button (top right). In the box, start typing the names of your group members. Their names should pop up. Click on the names. Click Share. Now the others can open the presentation and work on it!

To open the presentation from Google Drive…
Open Google Chrome. Click to get a new tab. Click the 9-square. Log in with your usual Kyrene info. Check your Shared With Me folder for the presentation sent to you. If you were the person who started it, look in Drive for the copy you made. Begin researching and typing! All changes are saved for you!

Dos and Don'ts for a good presentation…
DO keep information short and focused. DON’T crowd too much onto one slide. Add new slides as needed. (You can have more than one slide per question.) DO fancy it up with interesting fonts, colors, pictures and backgrounds. DON’T make it so busy that the words can’t be read. DO make sure information is in your own words
