Invitation to Notice Adverbs are words that describe verbs, other adverbs, or adjectives. The softball team practices faithfully. (faithfully describes the verb practices) Last night the players slept quite soundly. (quite describes the adverb soundly) Yesterday’s practice was extra long. (extra describes the adjective long)

Good vs. Well Are you describing the noun or something else? He did a good job. (good is an adjective modifying the noun job) He did his job well. (well is an adverb modifying the verb did)
