5 COMPASS® Testing Dates
No testing window restrictions Open through June 15, 2012 OAA:DSR:js:pp: 9/7/2011

6 Reading English Math COMPASS® Cut Points Score At or Above 85
(Writing Skills) English Score At or Above 36 (Algebra) Math In March 2011 the Council on Postsecondary Education met with the Kentucky Public Colleges and Universities to determine one Cut Point or Score that is acceptable by all of the institutions for each COMPASS test. The above Cut Points were set by KDE but will be revised to reflect CPE’s Cut Point when it becomes available. OAA:DSR:js:pp: 9/7/2011

7 COMPASS® College Placement
Course Placement NOT College Admissions COMPASS® will not replace ACT as an admissions exam Note: COMPASS® is not the only placement test that will be used for the accountability. *KYOTE will also be used in the College and Career Readiness Rate calculation. OAA:DSR:js:pp: 9/7/2011

9 Eligible Student List File
Coming Early October Electronic File by School on Secure Site Eligible—This sheet contains students who are eligible for the COMPASS® tests. NOT Eligible—This sheet contains students who met the benchmarks in all three areas (English, Mathematics, and Reading). No Match—This sheet contains students for whom we do not have data.  They have not taken the ACT in Kentucky that we can match to a student in IC.  These students can test in COMPASS®. 10 Link to Intervention Seniors may take each eligible assessment twice.

12 Intervention Provided Prior to Second Test Administration
Additional Quality Intervention Provided Prior to Second Test Administration Based on Individual Student’s Needs Must be a minimum of five instructional days between first and second administration OAA:DSR:js:pp: 9/7/2011

13 Heightened Protocols Students may test only TWICE
Offenders of this rule First Offense Written Warning to DAC Second Offense Testing System Turned Off for School Appropriate Practice/Use Form Completed and returned to KDE before system reactivated Third Offense Testing allegation Removal of individual(s) from COMPASS® system OAA:DSR:js:pp: 9/7/2011

14 Security of Test All testing staff must be trained in Administration Code of Ethics and Inclusions of Special Populations prior to test administration. OAA:DSR:js:pp: 9/7/2011

15 Accommodations All accommodations will be local, according to Individualized Education Plan, or 504 Plan. No Large Print, Braille or Special Forms All test and non-test portions may be completed with the use of projectors and readers. Note: Computer adaptive test, not every student will have the same questions. OAA:DSR:js:pp: 9/7/2011

19 COMPASS® COMPASS® is a computer-adaptive UNTIMED assessment program that helps educators evaluate students' skill levels, place them in appropriate courses, and connect them to the support services they may need to achieve academic success.
